Congratulations!

NEWS~

Tomorrow December 15th from 4-7 I will be hanging out at the studio
to hand out T-shirts and sweatshirts if you ordered one..
If you didn't and would like to I will take orders...

This will also be a good time to pay December tuition if you have not already.

I will also take costumes if you want to return your Nutcracker costumes~

Hope you had a good time, I am so proud of everyone!!!

News!!!!!

Hi Dance Families!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with all of your special families!

Here is some updated news ~

**No more Variety classes until January, (unless otherwise told by instructor)
**All combo classes will continue including the base.
**All ballet classes up until Rehearsal time.
**Ads will be accepted Monday 11/28 and Tuesday 11/29.
**Please pay December tuition before performances. Things
get so hectic and sometimes tuition falls through the cracks
during performance. Thank you for your help
**T-shirt and Sweatshirt order going in 11/30
**Need volunteers Especially for intermission bake sales.
**Please return all Simply dance Costumes from past years if you have any
we are missing some we need for Nutcracker ~ thank you!
**Tickets are on sale now.
**Sierra Photography will be taking pictures on Dec 3rd from 10a-1p
at Simply Dance. Sugarplum Tea from 2-4p then Rehearsal at 5p for all
dancers who can make it.

Costumes

Nutcracker Costume Info
For all classes you will need to wear pink tight and pink ballet shoes, and your hair needs to be pulled out of you face and curled (or in a bun if you choose) unless otherwise stated. If your class is renting a costume there is a $10.00 fee payable to the Simply Dance. If you need me to order you a leotard please let me know by Nov. 22 and make checks payable to Michelle Ostrom Camisole, Tank, or Short sleeve: Child size $12.00 Adult size $14.00, Long sleeve Child size $13.00, Adult size $15.00).

Combo Classes - Children in the Village
Each class will be dancing at the very beginning of the show with their class & teacher and then all of the combo class will sing jingle bell together. The girls will need to wear a Party/Christmas dress, Pink tights and pink ballet shoes. The boys need to wear nice pants and shirt and black ballet shoes.
Mon.
Beg. Ballet 1-2 Mon. 3:30 & Wed. 4:30 Both classes will be Mother Ginger They will be renting a costume from the studio, they will be wearing Pastel color tutus. The girls will need to wear a pastel leotard.
Ballet 3-4 Mon 4:30 Gingerbread You will be using a costume from the studio. They will be wearing a brown skirt and top. The girls will need to wear a black sleeveless leotard under the outfit.
Adv. ballet Candy Canes You will need a long sleeve White or Red leotard (if you don't know what color you are please check with Mrs. Helene). I have a few of both color leotards please let me know if you need to borrow one or you need me to order you one. You will also be renting red or white (same color as leotard) tutu, hair piece, and belt
Tue.
Boys Tap soldiers You will be renting a soldier costume from the studio.
Adv. Ballet Pine Forest I'm making Green tree dresses. Your hair needs to be in a bun.
Wed.
Pre - Pointe. Wed. 4:30 Christmas Candy You will be renting different colored satin tutus.
Beg. Ballet 1-2 Mon. 3:30 & Wed. 4:30 Both classes will be Mother Ginger They will be using a costume from the studio They will be wearing Pastel color tutus. The girls will need to wear a pastel leotard.
Adv. Ballet Neapolitan You will need a white camisole leotard, a white tutu (let me know if you need to rent a tutu), also Michelle's Mom will be giving you each a Neapolitan sash to wear.

Snow
You will be wearing "Snow Tutu" & your hair needs to be in a bun.
Flowers
You will be wearing "Snow Tutu" If you do Not have one then you can rent one. You will need to put flowers on the bodice and you will be renting an overlay. Your hair needs to be in a bun.
Thurs.
Adv. Ballet Swiss Cocoa You will need a black sleeveless leotard and renting a wrap skirt, & sash.
Fri
Pre-Adv. (Ballet 6) Angels You will rent a long white dress, halo, wings and a ribbon, you will also need a white sleeveless leotard.
Sat.
Adv. Ballet Champagne I'm making off white chiffon, gold and brown overdresses that you will rent. You will also need to wear a white sleeveless leotard.

NUTCRACKER INFORMATION!

DETAILED INFORMATION  ~ DECEMBER 2011
                Nutcracker - 2011
 This year’s performances will be held at the Parker Performing Arts Center
 (Burroughs HS).
Class and Rehearsals- Extra Rehearsals are for you, come to as many as
possible. Let me know if you can’t make rehearsal. Thank you.
Variety classes will continue through November 22nd but there will be no variety classes the last week of November (you are welcome to make up the classes
you miss the last week in January. There are no variety classes in December.

You are not expected to pay for the variety classes in December.
Tuition will be 1/2 month for December, with the exception of
soloists. We ask you to pay full month for all the rehearsal time that is
required to solo.

Combo Dancers(ages 3-5)- The combo dancers will be performing
Thursday, Friday and Sat night.  You may choose one performance or all,
whatever works best for your family and your little dancer. There will be
one rehearsal for your little dancers,Sunday December 6th at 6p at Burroughs. This includes the MWR Dancers.
**Reminder, your little dancers are village children. They are to be dressed in
party dresses, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Boys in dress clothes and
black ballet shoes.

this is optional, let me know if you are interested and I will sign you up.
November 26th and 27th (Sat and Sun) - Soloists may sign up with me if interested in rehearsing.

Combo Dancers(ages 3,4,5 will have their regular classes. No rehearsal until
December 6th at Burroughs)
Tuesday, November 29th-  Act 1 and 2 Advanced dancers only 4:30

THERE IS A FUNCTION AT BURROUGHS! REHEARSAL WILL START AT
4:30.
Thursday, December 8th- PERFORMANCE- CALL TIME 5P PERFORMANCE AT 6P.
Friday, December 9th- PERFORMANCE- CALL TIME 5P PERFORMANCE AT 6P.
Saturday December 10th ~ Christmas Parade 10a. Please arrive at 9:30 and
wear Nutcracker Costumes. The parade line up is on Las Flores between
Home Depot and The Lutheran Church.
Saturday, December 10th- PERFORMANCE -CALL TIME 5P PERFORMANCE AT 6P.
December  11- January 2nd Winter break, all classes will resume January 2nd.

 Costume Questions- Please see Michelle Ostrom or your dancer’s instructor.
You should have already received information from your instructor.

Green Room for Performances-
Dancers with only 1 dance will be in the choir room directly behind the backstage door we will direct you. NO DANCERS SHOULD BE IN THE AUDIENCE IN COSTUME!

 We ask you not to stand back stage as it is small and the noise carries to the audience. It can also be distracting to the dancers performing. Please do not bring juice or soda, water is ok. If you need to bring snacks make sure they are not sticky or greasy.
For the younger dancers one of  Dad’s old button up shirts is great to cover up their costumes. The little ones also get antsy so it's ok to bring coloring books or quiet games to keep them occupied while they are waiting. You can bring a blanket for them to sit on as well. For the combo class dancers they may leave after they dance or you can stay and watch the show. NO FOOD OR GUM IN THE THEATER.

Tickets Will be available soon at Simply Dance and Bread of Life & Red Rock books.
Prices- General $10.00  Military/Senior/Students $8   Children under 10- $5
All soloists receive 2 tickets free.
T-Shirts/Sweatshirts - You may order now at the front desk. Please pre-pay
Child t-shirt is $12 and adult is $15
Child Sweatshirt $20 and adult $25


Ads- See the front desk to purchase your personal ad. The deadline is Friday November 25th  over Thanksgiving break,  $10 with a picture $5 for just a message.
Dvd's- Will be available sometime after the first of the year, dvd will be the best footage of all shows.

Volunteers Needed-
We can always use you support to make sure the performances, run smoothly.
Thank you in advance for your support. I would also like to thank all of you, for supporting your dancers bringing them to class every week and for all your encouragement.
If you would like to help you can sign up at the front desk. We need volunteers in the following areas-

**Class parents (you will not miss your child dance you can stand side stage and watch)
**Baked goods for intermission -  This will be a fund raiser for studio equipment that needs replacing.
**We will be selling Hershey Kiss Roses again :
 $1 for single and $5 for bouquet, a nice gift for your dancer.

Rules and Theater Etiquette- Very Important
THERE CAN BE NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE THEATER!
The following is a list of rules to ensure that the whole performance experience is a pleasant one. It takes a lot of patience and coordination
to put on a production with over 150 dancers. If your family has participated for several years keep your eyes open for those new dance families, they could use your support as the first performance can be a little overwhelming.
Thank you.
** No flash photography, this can distract the dancers.
**Dancers ! Please pay close attention the the line up and when it is your time to go on. Some dancers have missed their cue because they were playing around and not paying attention.
**Video taping, please be courteous to those around you as it can be distracting. We will be selecting the best footage from all the shows for the DVD.










**If you need to pick up your child after they have danced please wait until intermission or after they dance on stage. It is courteous to wait, remember the dancers on stage can see you leaving while they are dancing.
They have all worked hard for their moment on stage.
** Please leave all jewelry at home.
**Please put your dancers name on EVERYTHING ! it will be easier to find missing items after performance. Dance wear is expensive. We keep a lost and found at the theater and then at the studio after performance. If your dancer has more than one dance put their name on the hangers.
**Make-up - For all dancers with the exception of the advanced dancer :
Blush,soft blue or green eye shadow, rosy colored lipstick, mascara and darken the eyebrows if needed.

       will answer most of your questions and keep you well informed
             of everything that is going on.

THERE WILL BE NO BALLET OR ADV JAZZ THIS WEEKEND
BUT THERE ARE 5 SAT IN OCTOBER PLUS WE WILL BE DANCING
ON SUNDAY THE 18TH BECAUSE OF AUDITIONS ON THE 17TH.
SO BALLET AND ADV JAZZ AND MUSICAL THEATER WILL START
ON SEPT 18TH SAMES TIMES AS NORMAL ON SAT.

NEWS

Hello Dancers !!!!!!!
Back to that time getting ready for fall!!!!


Here is some updated news~ Feel free to email me with any questions!


Hope everyone had a wonderful summer !


* Summer program is over but, we are teaching all the advanced ballets next week and pre-pointe
and pointe. This is the week of August 1st. Same times as on the Summer schedule.


* If you have not paid summer tuition please take care of that by next Friday Aug 5th. Thank you.


*Today is National Dance Day!!!!!! We will be celebrating on Monday during Adv ballet 6:30
We will learn the So You Think You Can Dance ~ Dance too!


* Day Camp dates have changed. The day camp will be August 8, 9, 10, and 13th 10a-4p
it will only be 4 days the cost will be $160. I need 5-6 to make it go. Please let me know if you are interested.
Jr High( and 5th grade).


* First fall registration will be August 15th 3-7:30.


* First day of class is Tuesday, September 6th. (Labor day is Sept. 5th)


* New Audition date will be ~ Sat, September 17th


* We will be participating in the relay for life again this year.


We will be doing the Classical Nutcracker this December and Alice in Wonderland this spring.

DAY CAMP~

   
         Summer Dance Camp
   For Jr High ( 5th grade too)
      August 15th - 19th
    Simply Dance
        -Details -
       Monday through Friday 10-4 Friday 9-3p
    We will be doing Ballet everyday pre-pointe work,
    Ballet in the Pool too!!!
    All forms of dance as well! Lunch and snacks are
'    included. Theme will be Disney and I will let the
    group choose which Disney Film or Alice in Wonderland
    since we are doing Alice in the Spring !
    there will be choreography for the last day to perform
    for your parents and a memory scrapbook of the week!

        The cost is $200 for the entire week-
        I will need at least #5 dancers to make it
        go.

**REHEARSAL CANCELLED ON FRIDAY, JUNE 10 DUE TO GRADUATION.

**BASE PASSES~ I WILL BE TAKING THE LAST BATCH OVER TOMORROW 
MORNING, I WILL NEED YOUR PAPERWORK TONIGHT.
WHEN THE PASSES ARE READY I WILL GET A PHONE CALL, I WILL POST IT ON THE BLOG AND YOU CAN PICK THEM UP AT THE BASE VISITORS CENTER. THEY SHOULD BE READY FRIDAY.
IF YOU HAVE VISITORS COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN MAKE SURE THEY HAVE DRIVERS LICENSE (IF OVER 16) WITH ID THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ON IF THEY RIDE WITH SOMEONE DRIVING WITH A PASS.

HAPPY JUNE~ RECITAL TIME

        DETAILED INFORMATION !  COUNTDOWN ~ 13 DAYS TO GO!
   Spring Recital Information
            2011
 This years performances will be held at Murray Jr. High
 There will be metal folding chairs so bring a cushion if you like.
Everyone over 16 including your guests must  have a base pass please see our staff if you need a pass.

Combo Dancers(ages 3-5)- Your combo dancers will be performing Saturday
2p and 6:30, you may choose one performance or both.
Whatever works best for your family and you little dancer.
Your dancers are in the beginning so you may bring them 1/2 hour before 
the show starts.
Class will continue through the week of  June 6th.

Class and RehearsalsExtra Rehearsals are for you, come to as many as
possible let me know if you can’t make rehearsal. Thank you.
May 31st through June 4th Regular class schedule.
June 7th through June 10th ALL REGULAR CLASSES UP UNTIL 6:30.
May 29th - 1p Running through the Little Mermaid - Advanced Dancers and
soloists only.

** IF YOU WOULD LIKE FOOD BETWEEN MATINEE AND EVENING PERFORMANCE PLEASE PAY $5  AT THE FRONT DESK.

Green Room for Performances-
We will direct you at Murray, where your dancer will wait  until performance time.

 We ask you not to stand back stage it is small and the noise carries to the audience, it can also be distracting to the dancers performing. Please do not bring juice or soda, water is ok. If you need to bring snacks make sure they are not sticky or greasy. For the younger dancers one of  Dads old button up shirts is great to cover up their costumes. The little ones also get antsy so it's ok to bring coloring books or quiet games to keep them occupied while they are waiting. There will also be a TV set up for the kids to watch while they wait.
You can bring a blanket for them to sit on as well. For Little Mermaid the combo class dancers may leave after they dance or you can stay and watch the show.
Please have them change out of costume if you stay, dancers in costume in the audience takes away from the "magic" of the production.  Thank you.

Prices- General $8.00    Children 10 and under $5
All soloists receive 2 tickets free. 
AdsSee the front desk to purchase your personal ad. The deadline is  June 10th.
DvdsWill be during the summer program, dvd will be the best footage of all shows.

Volunteers Needed-
We can always use you support to make sure the performances.
Thank you in advance for your support. I would also like to thank all of you, for supporting your dancers, bringing them to class every week and for all your encouragement. 
If you would like to help you can sign up at the front desk. We need volunteers in the following areas-


**Class parents (you will not miss your child dance you can stand side stage and watch) 
**Baked goods for intermission -  This will be a fund raiser for studio.
**Margie Steiner will be selling Hershey Kiss Roses again to raise money for
the MS Walk $1 for single and $5 for bouquet. 
**Collecting Tickets
**Handing out programs
**Helpers for intermission bake sale
**Dads for stage crew

Tuition for June-
June tuition for all advanced dancers and soloists that have had private rehearsal time and all dancers in the Little Mermaid will need to pay the full month of June.
Variety dancers not in High School and combo dancers, ages 3-5  pay 1/2 June.
 There will be no classes after performance week.

Summer Program-
Registration for summer will be June 24th 3p -7p and June 28th 3p-7p. 
Summer Dance will go from July 6th to July 29th.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             I will offer 2 intensive programs one for Advanced dancers and one for Jr High level & serious elementary school dancers.  Both will take place in August. Details will be out soon.

Auditions for Season 2011-12
Auditions will take place at the end of August, details will be out during the summer program. All advanced dancers will be eligible to audition plus the dancers that took Ellen Bryant's Tech class this year. We will be performing The Nutcracker in December, Alice in Wonderland in Spring and advanced dancers will be eligible to audition for solo’s from “Disney” animated movies, solos will be by audition only. You must take two ballet classes to have a solo part.

Rules and Theater Etiquette- Very Important
THERE CAN BE NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE THEATER AREA!
The following is a list of rules to ensure that the whole performance experience is a pleasant one. It takes a lot of patience and coordination
to put on a production with over 200 dancers. If your family has participated for several years keep your eyes open for those new dance families, they could use your support, the first performance can be
a little overwhelming. Thank you.


** No flash photography, this can distract the dancers.
**Dancers ! Please pay close attention to the line up and when it is your time to go on. Some dancers have missed their queue because they were playing around and not paying attention.
**Video taping, please be courteous to those around you it can be distracting, we will be selecting the best footage from all the shows for the DVD.
**If you need to pick up your child after they have danced please wait until intermission or after the dance on stage. It is courteous to wait, remember he dancers on stage can see you leaving while they are
dancing they have all worked hard for their moment on the stage.
** Please leave all jewelry at home.
**Please put your dancers name on EVERYTHING ! it will be easier to find missing items after performance. Dance wear is expensive. We keep a lost and found at the theater and then at the studio after performance. If your dancer has more than one dance put their name on the hangers.
**Make-up - For all dancers with the exception of the advanced dancer.
Blush,soft blue or green eye shadow, rosy colored lipstick, mascara and darken the eyebrows if needed.






        This is a lot of information but I hope it 
    will answer most of your questions and keep you well informed
  of everything that is going on.
